| The fall season has NMAEE starting up again at a fast pace this year.
Our annual Award Banquest held on September 26, 2010, was attended by more than 60 NMAEE and NM-ASHRAE members. All of the award recipients we well deserving of the recognition they received at that meeting. The Smart-Grid presentation by Jack McGowan and Chris Wentz was informative and stimulated a lively question and answer session.
The UNM AEE Student Chapter held their initial kickoff meeeting on October 1, 2010. With about 15 potential members in attendance the three Dion's pizzas provided by NMAEE we wiped out in a ferw minutes. UNM Graduate Student Birk Jones, UNM Faculty Adviser Andrea Mammoli and current NMAEE members including myself addressed the group. Five stidents had already completed the membership application to AEE by the time of this meeting. A total of ten is required for an official student chapter and that number is expected by this weeks meeting when the group plans to elect officers. Former NMAEE President and UNM employee, Lee Imhof, will precide over the elections.
The October 26, 2010, meeting attendance of 48 people was the largest group for a NMAEE only gathering since I have been actively involved over the past four years. The timely topic of PNM's solar program, a great meeting facility and the ease of registration of our new website, I believe were all factors in this successful meeting.
The Department of Energy has made the 2009 IECC Code and ASHRAE 90.1-2007 Standard for energy conservation available for FREE download, see Current Headlines below.
November and December meetings are shaping up to be very informative for NMAEE members and guests. Because of the Holidays, November's meeting will be the 3rd Tuesday of the month, and December's meeting will be the 2nd Tuesday of the month. See current events.
NMAEE Wants You!! Nominations for new board members will be requested at this month's meeting. We are looking for a "Few Good Men (or Women)"
The "CLASSIFIED ADS SECTION" is now operational, AEE and NMAEE members and guests can post jobs and look at the classified if seeking a job. |
